“You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. . . .”
—Morpheus to Neo, in the 1999 science fiction thriller The Matrix
I had occasion to be in a medical office, in Orange County, California, and the Matrix was the furthest thing from my mind. But I soon found myself in an unexpected conversation with the receptionist. After making small talk about new technologies on the horizon, this receptionist made the startling statement that he thought the government could not be trusted in its role to protect us from any harmful effects of these technologies but would likely end up regulating them only in ways that benefit the political class.
I was somewhat taken aback by such a startling statement in a place of business. Indeed, there were many people in the office, yet no one protested what the receptionist had said. Having experienced living in California myself, the situation struck me as atypical. It is true that the last ten years I domiciled in the state, there had been, in practice, no free speech, except among friends in a private gathering. It was at this point that I posed the Matrix question: “Are you able to see the Matrix?” It is a coded question I ask to people, when I want to find out whether they are able to see through the media hypnosis and the Big Lies of the Left. (I can always say, “Never mind,” if a person is confused by my query, and move on.)
“I took the red pill a while back,” the receptionist responded, indicating that he was not under the spell of the media; this prompted me to follow up by asking if there was an Agent Smith about (an indoctrinated Leftist inclined to object or make trouble). “No,” he replied, “you can speak freely.” At this point an office co-worker approached, eagerly volunteering that he had also taken the red pill. None of people waiting to see the doctor batted an eyelash. Was it because I was in Orange County, traditionally a bastion of conservatism? To be sure, the OC had become less conservative over the last decade, but perhaps the OC’s native conservatism was making a comeback. Something was afoot in California, and I suppose it made sense that it would begin in the OC, the first county where multiple communities had stood up against the predator-enabling sanctuary state. It would appear that the people of Orange County were beginning to see the Matrix.
What Is the Matrix?
“The Matrix is everywhere,” explains Morpheus to Neo, “It is all around us, even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work . . . when you go to church . . . when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth—a prison for your mind.” In acknowledging how shocking the real world can be to people who have been living within the Matrix, Morpheus offers Neo a choice in the form of two pills: “You take the blue pill . . . the story ends; you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill . . . you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” Thus begins the eye-opening journey of the novice Neo—who does indeed choose the red pill being proffered—after being initiated into what change-agent Morpheus refers to, tongue-in-cheek, as Wonderland.
The Matrix, a 1999 science fiction movie, posits a dystopian reality where sentient machines—which are all a part of the artificial-intelligence hive known as the Matrix—utilize the body heat of human beings as an energy source. To this purpose, the human population is kept in a state of perpetual slumber and made to believe that their Matrix-facilitated dreams are an actual representation of reality.
Neo, the hero of The Matrix, is a man with a dual life who is a perfectly legitimate computer-programmer by day and a shady criminal cyber-hacker by night. Neo is in the process of catching on to the truth that the world he lives in daily is not based upon reality, but is mere appearance. Upon being rescued by Morpheus and his agents from falling victim to one Agent Smith, an operative who protects the Matrix, Neo is eventually offered the red pill and takes it, thereby discovering a reality-based rebellion that has taken up arms against the false narratives of the Matrix. But before Neo ingests the red pill, Morpheus issues him a warning: “All I am offering is the truth, nothing more,” says Morpheus. It is an important admonition, for Morpheus will not be able to make reality easily palatable for those who do choose the red pill. The Red-Pill Cultural Rebellion
American conservatives have, since 1999, adopted the vocabulary associated with The Matrix as an appropriate set of metaphors to describe the almost universal control that the Leftist cultural narrative of Big Lies has exercised over American media, through its ownership of five out of six major media companies (https://www.morriscreative.com/6-corporations-control-90-of-the-media-in-america/), with News Corp, the owner of Fox News, being the notable exception; News Corp is, generally-speaking, a red-pill, reality-based enterprise—in contrast to the more propaganda-based media outlets of the Left—although even viewers of Fox must always remain vigilant and practice the old Reagan maxim of “trust but verify” when it comes to believing any media story. Recent red-pill additions to the rebellion against the Matrix include, but are not limited to, the following online outlets for fact-based news and cultural commentary: Eagle Rising (https://eaglerising.com/), Breitbart News (http://www.breitbart.com/), The Gateway Pundit (https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/), The Federalist (http://thefederalist.com/), and CNS News(https://www.cnsnews.com/). It has become the goal of the Matrix to shut these media outlets down by means of the so-called “net neutrality” policies that, in reality, are only a mask for government censorship of conservative media on the Internet. Blue-pill Democrats are already shutting down red-pill, conservative speech on Facebook, Google, Twitter, and other blue-pill sites.
The Matrix, metaphorically speaking, is fighting to maintain an illusory world where all white conservatives are racists and all black conservatives are “Uncle Toms.” Any other conservative minorities are “race traitors.” And, of course, all women who have failed to support Hillary Clinton are “traitors to their gender.” According to the terminology of The Matrix, the politically-progressive narrative is “the world that is pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.” And it is the acolytes of the Left who help the Matrix to reinforce this worldview at every turn—even to the point of self-censorship. When asked if they would ever consider watching Fox News or reading Eagle Rising or Breitbart, those who religiously and regularly take the blue pill almost uniformly answer, “Oh, no! I would never watch Fox News!” or “I wouldn’t be caught dead reading Breitbart!”
Politics Is Downstream from Culture
Andrew Breitbart (the creator of Breitbart News) used to say, “Politics is downstream from culture.” Breitbart was a red-pill gonzo journalist who believed that people’s political opinions were often heavily influenced by what they thought of as being cool or impressive to their friends. Memberships in certain worship communities, bowling leagues, or gun clubs were more likely, in Breitbart’s view, to influence people than almost anything else. Younger people, especially, would tend to get their information from their circles of friends and social networks. This is why the Left works so hard to enlist pro athletes and celebrity actors in their cause. For those who refuse to do the bidding of the Matrix, blacklisting awaits, along with the loss of their TV shows (think Tim Allen of Last Man Standing and Roseanne Barr of Roseanne) as well as their future film roles (think James Wood and Antonio Sabato). This is how the Matrix works. Anyone who seeks to “red-pill” others, or who supports “red-pill” politicians like President Trump, is shut down to the greatest extent possible by the leftwing Agent Smiths of the Matrix.
The Mysterious Circumstances Surrounding the Death of Andrew Breitbart
Andrew Breitbart, the founder of Breitbart News, died mysteriously in 2012 at the young age of 43, after announcing that he would soon be releasing “game-changing” information that could alter the course of the 2012 presidential election. After the L.A. Coroner rushed to judgment by issuing a “death by natural causes” verdict, before an accurate toxicology report could be obtained, Michael Cormier, the forensic technician responsible for finding the true cause of death, reportedly died himself by means of arsenic poisoning on the precise day he was scheduled to release Breitbart’s official cause of death (https://www.infowars.com/breitbart-coroner-turns-up-dead-before-final-cause-of-death-report-is-released/), leading many to speculate that an Agent Smith must have gotten to both Andrew Breitbart and Michael Cormier.
In Hollywood, Most People Are Not Ready to Be Unplugged from the Matrix
In Los Angeles and its environs, where so many families are tied into the Hollywood media culture and so many jobs depend on the money generated by it, blue-pill sleepwalking is naturally and easily reinforced. Other important blue-pill cultural centers are New York, Washington, DC, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Hawaii—as well as the “satellite states” of Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont. These are places where it is often difficult to reason with others, since people have largely been taught to decide matters emotionally, with a heavier reliance on blue-pill media messaging. As Morpheus has said, “Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”
Candace Owens Realizes Progressive Reporters Are “Hired Hit Men”
Candace Owens, who was involved with an anti-bullying project back in 2016, found herself in the position of having the Left attempt to shut her project down. During an interview with Dave Rubin, Owens, aka “Red Pill Black,” shared her story about how she found herself being threatened by journalists from established media outlets.
Apparently, by offering to help stop bullying online, Owens had made herself into a target of a woman on Twitter whose victimhood Owens wanted to address. As it turned out, the woman was lying about having been bullied, and she feared discovery by Owens. Thus, she tried to get Owens to abort her anti-bullying project. When Owens refused, Owens immediately found herself being bullied, via email, by people claiming to be white supremacists who wanted Owens to stop. Owens realized this was all connected to the woman at Twitter; the woman had lied about being bullied and was, in fact, a bully herself. That is when Owens experienced an important red-pill moment: “I realized that liberals were actually the racists,” Owens affirmed; “Trump is on the [TV] screen saying that the media is lying, that CNN is fake. . . . I began to realize that everything he was saying was true. So, I no longer bought into this idea that he was a racist, a rapist, a white nationalist—everything—I bought none of it, because I knew that the media are hired hitmen, and they were doing the most ridiculous hit job on Donald Trump, from start to finish, of his campaign. . . .”
When President Trump Says “Fake News,” He Is Calling Out the Matrix
Perhaps the biggest red-pill personality alive is President Donald Trump. Trump breaks the taboo daily of exposing the Matrix, a habit which led to President Obama’s weaponizing of the entire Intelligence Community against Trump, in order to spy on his presidential campaign (http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/05/26/7-ways-spy-chief-obama-spied-trump/); the Clintons’ hiring of intelligence operative Christopher Steele, to frame Trump with a false Russian-dossier narrative (https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/michael-w-chapman/rep-jordan-fbi-used-garbage-dossier-get-warrants-spy-americans-associated); and the infiltration of the White House by anti-Trump staffers and Secret Service personnel, to cause a huge number of security leaks to occur during the early days of Trump’s administration (https://www.teaparty.org/new-deep-state-leaks-secret-service-leaks-full-transcipts-trumps-calls-mexico-australia-256646/).
The more President Trump does and the more he accomplishes for the good of all Americans, the smaller the red pill that is necessary for people to swallow, in order to be able to see the Matrix. The black community, with the help of people like Larry Elder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsIiTWpqh6k), Candace Owens (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILQXW2Ob1PU), and Kanye West (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swQWUa5-9TM)—not to mention the likes of Senator Tim Scott and Housing Secretary Ben Carson—is beginning to wake up to the reality of the Matrix.
The Blue-Pill Brainwash: “People Are a Cancer of the Planet”
“Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague, and we are the cure,” says Agent Smith to Morpheus while interrogating him, in an attempt to break him down. These words could have been spoken by any blue-pill conspiracy-media hack who treats red-pill conservatism as the problem and blue-pill socialism as the cure. Red-pill people believe that economic regulation of the market is not the answer—that the answer lies in fact-based education (rather than ideological indoctrination), in order to create a marketplace for the kinds of conservation technologies and inventions that will help the environment. Blue-pill zombies deny this reality, although the free-market approach has worked historically; these devotees of the Matrix do not trust other people, choosing instead to put their faith in government bureaucrats as the guarantors of environmental protection. However, trust in government is almost always misplaced, because bureaucrats have no real accountability, in terms of being incentivized to maintain or improve the environment the way private individuals are. Private individuals are almost always better stewards of the planet than government bureaucrats who remain cut off from connection to any land that they actively love or care for in a tangible way.
A Truth Hidden by the Matrix: Capitalism Has Improved Environmental Protection over Time
Blue-pill Operatives do not know—or if they do, they fail to cite—historical facts that argue against environmental socialism. For example, John Rockefeller helped to save the whales by developing fossil fuel as an energy source, thereby replacing the need for whale oil (http://naturespathways.com/herb-blurb/item/4027-how-john-d-rockefeller-oil-magnate-helped-save-the-whales#.WxwD-yBlDIU). It was the profit motive that incentivized Rockefeller to find a cheaper, more reliable source of energy. It is also true that collectivist economies generally harm the environment, whereas private ownership protects it. This is important to understand, since “social-justice” taxation to “save” the environment is one of the biggest scams perpetrated by the Left. Not only does socialist policy fail, but it actually tends to increase environmental damage. The Matrix, however, fights against historical facts, since the people running the Matrix enjoy exercising power over people by depriving them of their economic means to be free to make independent financial decisions. The easiest way to do this is to convince people they must sacrifice—by means of government taxation—to the environment, lest they kill the planet by withholding their money and, in turn, wind up killing themselves.
Why Socialism Fails to Protect the Environment: Or, The Tragedy of the Commons
In socialist economies, no one owns property, so there is no incentive to care for the land, to preserve its value. The forest next to my home is owned by everyone in common, rather than being owned by me or some individual incentivized by private ownership to responsibly maintain the land. So, if I cannot own the land, and it cannot belong to my neighbor, then, realistically, I should hunt the deer before my neighbor does; I had better extricate the fish from the lake, as well, before my neighbor does; for, if I try to conserve the wildlife, it will make no difference, since it will only be my neighbor who hunts and fishes the animals to extinction, whereas, if I do it, the same result accrues, but with me as the beneficiary. The destruction of commonly-owned property that is held in trust for everyone by the government is referred to by economists as the Tragedy of the Commons (https://eaglerising.com/8392/capitalism-saves-communism-kills/). It is a phenomenon that is hidden, in large part, by the operatives of the Matrix.
Capitalism Provides the Cheapest Way to Develop Newer & Better Sources of Energy
The development of renewable energy sources has benefited from the use of fossil-fuel technology. The availability of cheap, plentiful fossil fuel has helped enormously to allow the inexpensive research and development necessary to make renewable energy more profitable. A good example is ExxonMobil’s continuing efforts to conduct research on advanced biofuels, which, according to the energy company (http://corporate.exxonmobil.com/en/research-and-technology/advanced-biofuels/advanced-biofuels-and-algae-research), is “part of our many investments in new technologies with the transformative potential to increase energy supplies, reduce emissions and improve operational efficiencies.” Profits affect spending on these kinds of projects; so, in a capitalistic, low-regulation, free-market competitive economy, developments that would be beneficial for the environment can happen that could not occur under a sluggish socialistic economic regime devoid of incentives for helping the environment.
The Matrix Promotes Death-Dealing Socialism in General
What the Matrix has removed from media representations and educational curricula is the teaching of real history. The truth is that, throughout history, socialist oligarchies always become tyrannical, something the Big Lies of the Matrix narrative block people from knowing. However, when, under socialism, people are not allowed to benefit from their jobs more than anyone else benefits, people generally quit the harder jobs. This is how socialism ultimately leads to shortages of life-preserving foodstuffs and technologies, while capitalism always finds ways to create abundance. Socialism is run by people who are greedy for power, who never do without, while their countrymen experience scarcity and often go hungry, even to the point of starvation. How greedy one can be is limited in capitalism, since, in a competition-driven free market, nobody can force you to buy anything, so greedy vendors demanding prices that are too high cannot survive. The eventual by-product of the scarcity that comes about under socialism, by the way, is the plundering and pillaging of natural resources to point of what often becomes irreparable environmental damage, for when food and other resources are in too-short supply, people poach animals of every variety and spoil the land and water to gain whatever advantage they need to survive.
