Can the voice of John Goodman and the popularity of “Roseanne” make up for their fake news?
Given the ratings success of “Roseanne,” it is not surprising that ABC News tries to win people over with John Goodman.
The problem is that just because John Goodman is paid to say it, as a talented actor whose voice is popular, doesn’t make his words true or persuasive. The people who like the Roseanne show are not likely to forgive ABC News for their extreme anti-conservative bias or for their anti-Trump bias.

The Hill reports, “‘Roseanne’ star John Goodman featured as voice of new ABC News promo.”
“Roseanne” star John Goodman is featured as the voice of a new on-air brand campaign for ABC News released Tuesday at the network’s presentation to advertisers held each May in New York.
“Your mom said ‘comb your hair.’ Your dad told you ‘smarten up.’ Your dog is judging you right now, and your best friend just called you crazy. We all need someone who will pull no punches and give it to us straight,” Goodman, 65, narrates in the 30-second promo.
“Now imagine getting your news like that,” he continued. “No bull, no spin. Just give it to me straight. Straightforward news. Straight to the heart of the story. ABC News. Straightforward.”
But John Goodman’s voice can’t erase ABC’s track record. Fox News reports, “Critics pounce on ABC News promo voiced by ‘Roseanne’ star John Goodman.”
Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor said it’s the kind of promo that news outlets create when they are desperate not to promote their anchors, adding, “Who can blame them when they employ long-term Democrat operative George Stephanopoulos as their chief anchor and anchor of both ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘This Week?’”
Stephanopoulos is a former top aide to President Bill Clinton and a close friend of Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.[…]

ABC News has been under fire on several fronts of late. These include “View” co-host Joy Behar’s having to apologize after mocking Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith.
Additionally, ABC News took some flak for an interview with former FBI Director James Comey that was “aggressively edited,” and it demoted its chief investigative correspondent, Brian Ross, after he botched an “exclusive” report on Donald Trump and Russia.
