Is David Hogg the Best NRA Fundraiser Ever? [VIDEO]

The days and week after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, has been a great NRA fundraiser.

The days and weeks after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, have been a great NRA fundraiser.

To be a great NRA fundraiser you have to send out a message that motivates people to give money to the NRA. David Hogg and his fellow student “activists” may not succeed in changing any policies, but they have succeeded in getting more people to contribute more money to the National Rifle Association.

The dynamic here is simple. Attacking the NRA is a way of attacking all Americans who value the Second Amendment. While the NRA is portrayed as an alien force in American politics by “activists” and “journalists,” Americans see through the subterfuge. They know they’re really being attacked.

CNN reports, “Donations to the NRA tripled after the Parkland shooting.

In the days and weeks following the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the National Rifle Association saw a significant spike in donations.

In fact, reports from the Federal Election Commission show donations to the NRA’s Political Victory Fund tripled from January to February.

In January, the NRA collected almost $248,000 in individual contributions. In February, they collected more than $779,000.

It’s no secret that interest in guns and gun sales — as evidenced by anecdotes and manufacturing numbers — have until recently gotten boosts from mass shootings.

Not all of those donation have a specific date recorded. In their case, we don’t have proof how much money came in before and after the Valentine’s Day shooting. But in the case of larger donations we can be more specific. The Center for Responsive Politics reports, “NRA donations spiked after Parkland shooting.

The National Rifle Association received twice as much money from nearly five times as many donors in the seven days after the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting than it did in the seven days before the shooting.

In the two weeks before the shooting – from Jan. 31 to Feb. 13 – NRA’s PAC received $27,100 through 51 donations. Two weeks after the shooting – from Feb. 15 to Feb. 28 – the PAC raised $70,870 through 226 donations, according to the NRA’s most recent filing with the Federal Election Commission.
