That earlier “stake-out” with Sharpton was back when Al was sporting a Mary Tyler Moore hairdo and a few extra pounds. (See cartoon below.)
But back then he was a “cat” not a rat.
But, since then, maybe he evolved into a rat. And just like Darwinistic Evolution Theory, there is a total lack of transitional fossil evidence.
So I think he was always a rat.
As for the Nevada Range War …we are seeing yet another wise and judicious expenditure of OUR tax dollars. Another example of low level bureaucratic management run amok. With no adult oversight. And absolutely no fear of being called in on the carpet to justify your actions. And absolutely no fear of losing that big fat pension, which is far fatter than private industry pensions for doing equivalent work. Of course, such a comparison is unfair because I have never heard of a private job anything similar to stakin’ out a bunch of cows. Or harassing private tax paying ranchers, either.
I read somewhere that this abridgment of private property was due to “safety concerns” and/or fear a desert tortoise may have been trod upon. Anyone with any sense knows that punchin’ cows is dangerous. As for those tortoises, they are pretty tough. They come from the Creator with a really resilient outer skin. They’d probably trip a cow that stepped on ’em.
Besides, the other day, my wife talked to a lady at a garage sale who was recently widowed. Her husband had retired from the …some government bureaucracy specializing in watching and protecting turtles on a local tortoise preserve paid for by us tax payers. It is huge and completely surrounded by a two foot tall fence, intended to keep the tortoises in. Turtles and tortoises are unique in the reptile world. They’re the only ones who are cute.
While talking about her deceased hubby the lady got a puzzled look at one point and stopped talking. My wife thought she was getting misty. But, when she started talking again she said it was strange, her husband liked his job, but he had never once in his career seen a tortoise. I guess that was a low stress job. No actual “face time” with the charges you are protecting and monitoring. I guess the take-away here is if you retire you’ll probably die soon, even from a low stress job.
There are other “take-aways” but, why bother? It’s always the same with government jobs. Plenty of power and nobody bothers you about producing any work.
I saw the numbers today. They indicate the Fed spends three dollars for every two we/ they/take in. That’s a disaster looming. And most of that third dollar goes for programs liking watching phantom Tortugas darting all around in the desert.
