Hero, Good Samaritan Kills Gunman

It seems that we read these stories almost daily now. Hero gun owners protecting themselves and their fellow citizens from criminals seeking to harm innocent Americans. The liberal fallacy on gun violence that less guns would mean less violence is unmasked each time a law abiding citizen uses a firearm to preserve the common good. The truth is that the more law abiding citizens take their protection into their own hands, the safer our nation becomes.

Case in point – a recent shooting at a Dollar General in Orrville, Alabama.

Kevin Mclaughlin walked into the Dollar General with crime on his mind. It’s not clear if he was planning to rob the store, or to murder the folks inside, or both. What is (and was) clear is that Mclaughlin was armed and planning to commit a crime. Thankfully, there was a hero in that Dollar General in Orrville too… and he was also armed, evening the odds.

What could the police have done? What could anyone have done if Mclaughlin had decided to open fire on the gathered innocents that day? Nothing. The only one who could have done anything in that situation was a citizen exercising their 2nd Amendment right to carry a firearm. Fortunately for the folks in the Dollar General, there was such a person in their midst.

Too often in these situations the innocent citizens are only armed with hope.

We must continue to publicize the heroic actions of average Americans carrying firearms, because it’s the only way we’ll continue to change minds and make people realize that carrying a firearm is the only way to protect yourself from a violent criminal intent on doing harm. Law abiding and armed citizens are the best defense against the criminal elements that liberal economic, education, and social policies have created.
