Andrew McCabe has reportedly stepped down as FBI Deputy Director much earlier than anticipated.
McCabe hasn’t been in the good graces of Donald Trump as of lately, considering his bias against the president, and Trump has blasted him on Twitter for it. Perhaps the director couldn’t handle the criticism.
Over the summer Trump questioned, “Why didn’t A.G. Sessions replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a Comey friend who was in charge of Clinton investigation?”
Then he tweeted in December, “How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?”
A career civil servant who was appointed deputy director in 2016, McCabe has been a frequent target of Republicans alleging systemic bias against President Trump at the top tiers of the bureau.
McCabe has become a lightning rod for the Trump White House in recent months. President Trump has criticized McCabe over Twitter, and earlier this month it was reported that the president asked McCabe who he voted for at an Oval Office meeting where they met.
The Washington Post reported in December that McCabe’s intention was to retire when he became eligible for pension benefits in early March. It’s possible M cCabe is now simply using vacation time, a point people made to the Post at the time of their report.
The news came as speculation grew that the House Intelligence Committee would vote as soon as Monday on publicly releasing a controversial memo authored by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) alleging surveillance abuses at the Department of Justice. McCabe is reported to be mentioned by name in the document.
Congressman Trey Gowdy said in December, “Andrew McCabe cuts across every facet of every investigation in 2016 that your viewers are interested in from Secretary Clinton’s emails to the investigation into the Trump campaign.”
Andrew McCabe can spend his evening at the Comey residence for Netflix and chill.

If the McCabe resignation is meaningless why is the left so outraged about it?

McCabe oversaw the controversial investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton‘s use of a private email server. The GOP has accused him of a conflict of interest in that case because his wife accepted nearly $500,000 in political donations from Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe in a state legislature bid that predated the investigation.
