The rejected DACA deal enraged Republicans and Democrats, so they “told on him” to barrage the President with allegations of racism.
The story about Trump’s crude language is really a story about Senators angry about the rejected DACA deal. They thought, perhaps in part due to Trump’s wavering, that they would be able to get the “immigration reform” they always wanted. Donald Trump said no. In order to get a DACA deal they would have to offer up items that Trump had promised voters.
So, they smeared Donald Trump by revealing (or lying about) what he said in private.
Reuters reports, “Trump slams Senate immigration deal, denies offensive language.”
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said a bipartisan Senate immigration plan would force the United States to admit people from “high crime” countries “doing badly,” and denied using a vulgar reference in comments decried as racist.[…]
Amid the furor the president criticized the immigration proposal. “The so-called bipartisan DACA deal presented yesterday to myself and a group of Republican Senators and Congressmen was a big step backwards,” Trump said in a series of tweets on Friday.
The Senate group has been working for months to craft legislation that would protect 700,000 children who were brought to the United States as illegal immigrants and later given protection from deportation under a program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.
The tentative deal also addresses border security, including a border wall, the diversity visa lottery and chain migration.
“Wall was not properly funded, Chain & Lottery were made worse and USA would be forced to take large numbers of people from high crime countries which are doing badly,” Trump wrote.
I remember reading in an “alternative” newspaper about George H. W. Bush telling dirty jokes to Dan Quayle at Cabinet meetings. The mainstream media never covered it but recently, a woman complained about a wheelchair-bound Bush grabbing her in inappropriate places without her consent during a photoshoot.
This article reminds us what else the media covered up for in our Presidents:
Lyndon Johnson had a repulsive habit of referring openly to his sexual organ as “Jumbo”—and occasionally displaying it to startled staffers—a felony in our present culture. Worse still, he often gave dictation while defecating on the toilet.
John Kennedy crudely seduced dozens of his own female staffers. One, Mimi Alford, who came to work a 19-year-old virgin, wrote an entire memoir of her mechanical trysts inside the White House with JFK, including his inaugural seduction, which, by any contemporary definition, would now qualify as sexual assault. She lamented that he once had pawned her off to fellate one of his aides. A perverted rapist as our beloved commander-in-chief? No need to imagine a Wolff version of the Clinton White House.
I could an imagine a [Michael] Wolff in FDR’s White House circa early 1945 having a field day: jazzing up the clandestine nocturnal trysts between the wheelchair-bound president and his mistress Lucy Mercer. His daughter Anna would be exposed as the go-between, the upstart young proto-Ivanka who had moved into the White House and became virtually a ceremonial First Lady.
All the while the Roosevelt team would struggle to lie to the press about the president’s sky-high blood pressure, chain-smoking, martini drinking, and growing feebleness. In place of Steve Bannon’s shoot-from-the-hip notions of geopolitics, a Harry Hopkins or freelancing and estranged Eleanor Roosevelt could offer mini-interviews on the administration’s successful politicking with good old Uncle Joe at Yalta. The difference is that FDR had the press in his pocket and even was too crafty to trust any of his “friends” with unfettered access.
Other perverts include George Patton and Martin Luther King, Jr.
There is a reason that this statement got revealed to the world and it has nothing to do with the quality of Donald Trump as an American president.
