According to Twitter, they won’t ever block President Donald Trump from their platform! Why? They said that they have no plans to block any world leaders, or even delete their posts, because that would “hide important information” from people.
The company said in a blog post, “Twitter is here to serve and help advance the global, public conversation. Elected world leaders play a critical role in that conversation because of their outsized impact on our society.”
“Blocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial tweets would hide important information people should be able to see and debate,” they continued, “It would also not silence that leader, but it would certainly hamper necessary discussion around their words and actions.”
Throughout his presidential campaign and into the first year of his administration, Trump’s messages have occasionally included language that has sparked widespread criticism from mainstream media and Democrats, like calling North Korea leader Kim Jong Un “Rocket Man” or rival Hillary Clinton “crooked Hillary.”
The social media giant recently updated its “unlawful conduct or harassment” policy, saying such posts will result in users being banned.
“We review tweets by leaders within the political context that defines them, and enforce our rules accordingly. No one person’s account drives Twitter’s growth, or influences these decisions,” Twitter concluded, “We are working to make Twitter the best place to see and freely discuss everything that matters.”
Many liberals have been calling for Trump to be removed from Twitter after he responded to North Korean Leader Kim Jon-Un about nuclear weapons. Too bad that won’t happen, sorry lefties!
“North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times,'” Trump’s tweet read, “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”
