Ingraham on the Swamp: ‘Time for Washington Dinosaurs to Retire’

The swamp dinosaurs, both Republican and Democratic, aren’t giving up their territory without a fight. However, that doesn’t mean we aren’t willing to fight!

Lara Ingraham spoke about the “elder statesmen” and how they have been in office for most of their life. During that time they lost touch with the people who elected them into those positions.

“It’s time for the dinosaurs of Washington who refuse to press the president’s agenda to step aside,” Ingraham said, “If we want to end corruption… we need the old-timers to do the decent thing and retire.”

She pointed out that Thomas Jefferson entered for people to serve a short term in public office, not spend their entire life in it.

However, Ingraham added that with age comes wisdom, and people like Sen. Charles Grassley, 84, (R-Iowa), still work hard for their constituents and to push President Trump’s agenda.

But she said that representatives like John Conyers (D-Mich.), who is 88 and has held his seat for more than a half-century, must see that it is their time to go.

Ingraham noted Conyers is also now implicated in allegations of sexual misconduct.

The year Conyers was first elected, Mary Poppins was released, Ingraham said, adding “Time for John to go fly a kite.”

She noted other legislators who have held office for seemingly too long, like Democrat Louise Slaughter of western New York, who is 88 and has been in Congress for 30 years.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) is 84 and seeking reelection after 25 years in office, and Republican Sam Johnson of Texas is 87.

“This is a total joke,” she concluded.
