Late night show host Jimmy Kimmel has done quite a number on his viewers, yet he claims that he doesn’t care about his plunging popularity among Republicans.
Kimmel was thriving in the world of comedy and television, until he brought politics and sob stories into his script. Instead of the funny jokes and stories that he was feeding the people, we are now hearing about the very things we watch television to forget about: politics.
If it were a more neutral approach, then it likely would not be a problem. However, he is pushing nonsense like gun control and universal healthcare, and even bashing President Donald Trump. In Hollywood, that may fine and dandy but folks in the real world do not enjoy that.
As if it was not bad enough, Kimmel has no remorse for his newfound jokes and topics. In fact, he said that he would do it all again!
Kimmel told CBS News, “Yeah, I mean, I saw, I don’t know if it was a study or a poll, some combination of those two things, that, like, three years ago I was equally liked by Republicans and Democrats.”
He continued, “And then Republican numbers went way down, like 30 percent or whatever. And, you know, as a talk show host, that’s not ideal. But I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host then said, “I don’t say, ‘I don’t mind.’ I’d love for everyone — I want everyone with a television to watch the show,” when asked how he felt about Republicans not watching the show.
He added, “But if they’re so turned off by my opinion on health care and gun violence, then I don’t know. I probably won’t want to have a conversation with them anyway.”
“Well, not ‘good riddance,’ but riddance!” Kimmel concluded.
If he is okay with losing so many viewers then good for him. I saw we let him marinate in that for a little while. Once his paychecks start reflecting his actions, maybe he will think twice about this.
