Republicans and Democrats alike are hoping the Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein is not reelected. Even House Democrats are doubting her ability to be ‘in touch’ at this point.
However, that isn’t stopping her! “I am running for reelection to the Senate,” Feinstein said, “Lots more to do: ending gun violence, combating climate change, access to healthcare. I’m all in!”
Now Feinstein is standing in place of 40 million people and claiming that they do not want concealed carry.
CBS host John Dickerson asked her how she felt about the NRA’s (National Rifle Association) push for a bill to be passed that will allow national concealed carry reciprocity, she was extremely critical of it.
The bill would allow people to legally carry their gun in other states that allow concealed carry, with a carry permit from their state of residence.
Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) introduced the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 on January 3.
The bill amends federal criminal code to allow a qualified individual to carry a concealed handgun into or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows individuals to carry concealed firearms.
The bill has 212 co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations.
Feinstein matter of factly said, “My opinion of that bill is terrible. We want every American to feel comfortable packing a concealed weapon? Around the country? I represent 40 million Californians, and I can say without hesitation, Californians do not want concealed carry.”
She also added that she does not believe that the Constitution protects concealed carrying.
She added, “I am saying that the state I represent would not want any part of that, nor should any American. You just make the situation worse. You let somebody with a weapon who may do you harm get close to you. Why would you want that?”
