Another Democrat Boogeyman Debunked

The longer you spend trying to understand the American political scene, Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, etc. etc. etc., – the more you will come to understand that Charles and David Koch are the worst people in the world. Well, you would understand that if you decided to believe the inane ramblings of silly liberals.

They have Koch Brothers Derangement Syndrome – which is closely related to Palin Derangement Syndrome and Tea Party Derangement Syndrome.

Charles and David Koch are Republicans who style themselves as “libertarians” though many libertarians might disagree. They also happen to be very wealthy and they choose to use a good portion of their money in trying to mold the political and social culture of our country.

For their efforts they have been branded as evil capitalist pigs bent on world domination by rhetorical leftist thugs.

Recently, the group Open Secrets uncovered the sneaky truth about liberal fear mongering when it comes to the Koch brothers.

Open Secrets tabulated the largest financial contributors to either party and found something very interesting… the Koch Brothers and their affiliated groups ranked 59th among these donor groups.

Totals include reported contributions from PACs and individuals affiliated with Heavy Hitter organizations, which are defined as the top overall donors to candidates, parties, Leadership PACs and other committees. Contributions to outside groups like super PACs do not factor into an organization’s designation as a Heavy Hitter, however the totals below do include contributions by Heavy Hitters to such groups, as well as contributions to candidates, parties, Leadership PACs and other committees.

What is even more telling then the Koch brothers’ placement on the list is that the vast majority of money at the top of the list is flowing in the Democrats’ direction.

scapegoatOf the top 25 donors – only THREE donate mostly to Republicans! Seven donate about equally to both groups. FIFTEEN donate primarily to Democrats… including the top donor a group called Act Blue who has raised nearly $100 Million for Democrats since 2004. Stunning, since this report lists the top groups dating back to 1989 – a full fifteen years before Act Blue even collected its first dollar.

Six of the other top ten donors are all unions donating primarily to Democrats.

So, how do Republicans and Republican donors become the bad guy of political money?

That’s a great question. It seems nonsensical when one actually looks at the date. I am not arguing that there aren’t corrupt Republicans — there are — I am arguing that the Democrats’ demagoguery of campaign finance being primarily a Republican problem is a complete absurdity.

The answer is that the media is complicit in this Democrat storyline. They have taken the Democrat storyline and run with it, making the Koch’s famous and parading them about as evil caricatures for the Democrat Party. The reality is that Democrats have far more “skin in the game” when it comes to big time donors than the Republican Party… and the FACTS bear that out.

The Koch’s are not the boogeymen that the liberals make them out to be, nor do they have the influence that they pretend they do.
