President Donald Trump promised Kim Jong Un that “fire and fury” would be released on North Korea if they continued to threaten America. No Trump is questioning as to whether that promise was “tough enough” or not.
According to the White House press pool reports, Donald Trump said, “It’s about time someone stood up for the people of our country,” before adding that what he is saying is “100 percent” supported by the military.
“And we’re backed 100 percent by our military, we’re backed by everybody and we’re backed by many other leaders,” he continued, “And I noticed that many senators and others came out today very much in favor of what I said. But if anything that statement may not be tough enough.”
The Hill reports:
Trump declined to comment on the possibility of a pre-emptive strike against North Korea, saying “we don’t talk about that.”
He also advised North Korea to “get its act together” or it would be in trouble “like few nations have ever been.”
On Tuesday, Trump responded to reports that Pyongyang has developed a miniaturized nuclear warhead capable of fitting on one of its missiles by saying that he would unleash “fire and fury like the world has never seen before” if North Korea continued to threaten the U.S.
The president’s fiery language seemed to further escalate already-soaring tensions between Washington and Pyongyang.
North Korea’s military on Wednesday threatened to plan an attack hitting the waters near the U.S. territory of Guam by mid-August.
Others within the Trump administration seemed to take a cooler approach this week toward the mounting threat. However, according to a State Department spokeswoman the administration is “speaking with one voice”on North Korea.
What do you think? Have we not been tough enough on Kim Jong Un? The way I see it, North Korea either takes a chill pill or they risk receiving the same dose of medicine that America administered to Japan in 1945.
