Former CNN commentator Kayleigh McEnany is now a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee (RNC).
On Tuesday, the 29-year-old told Breitbart News Daily that we need to stand behind Trump and support him as there are a “wealth of voices in the Republican Party.”
She said, “There’s no doubt about that. That’s kind of one of the things that’s the beauty of the Republican Party: we welcome everyone’s viewpoint.” McEnany continued, “Look, we have to stand behind this president.”
The Hill reports:
McEnany pointed to ObamaCare, saying Republicans made a promise to the American people to repeal and replace ObamaCare. The party needs to come together as the healthcare law “crumbles.”
She added, “I welcome alternative voices, but look, these Republicans and the senators who have stood against Obamacare, at least publicly but then in their votes did not, they’ve got to come around.”
“This law is crumbling, and, to me, that’s a microcosm of the diversity of viewpoints within the Republican Party, which we welcome, but that need to come together because, at the end of the day, when you make a promise, it must materialize into results and successes and better outcomes for the American people.”
Future elections will be determined based on the what the party does for the American people, she said.
“Ultimately, the election will be determined by having successes on behalf of the American people,” she said, adding that it’s necessary for congressional Republicans and the White House to work together to make that happen.
During the interview, McEnany also she wants to communicate directly with the American people.
She inquired, “You know what that means?” and then answered, “It means going out and actually talking to the people.”
That’s exactly right! We need to stand behind him now more than ever! Get out there in your community and stand together for what is right. We must support our president as the left does everything in their power to tear him down.
She said a key part to getting President Trump elected to a second term is “just getting out there, what President Trump’s doing, what Republicans are doing.”
“I think a big part of my year-and-a-half at CNN was just wanting to give the CNN viewer the other side of the story – wanting to give them a perspective that, in earnest, they probably hadn’t heard,” she said.
“In terms of moving forward, I want to be a part of this fight.”
She added that the RNC was very welcoming and that, “They realize that for our party to succeed, that means the president must succeed.”
