Game of Thrones is set in the Middle Ages, where there are lords, ladies, kings, queens, castles, knights, dragons, and *gasp* slaves.
It was only a matter of time before the science fiction show was slammed for something. The social justice warriors have been carefully plotting this war and now they strike! Perhaps this will end the way the battle of Kings Landing ended….when Stannis’ army thought they were in the clear and then suddenly Lannister came around the corner with a massive army and slaughtered them all. In other words, the SJW’s might think they have a chance at winning here, but they don’t.
John Boyega is the one leading the army, which is interesting because he is accustomed to fighting in Star Wars, not the Realm. He says the show lacks diversity. I think this is funny for two reasons:
- There is plenty of diversity. See below.
- This is set in the Middle Ages of Europe…..EUROPE!
As to #1 above, there are many instances of diversity in the show, even though they did not have to include it because this was the Middle Ages for goodness sakes.
- The Dorthraki, a barbaric group of fighters
- Missandei and Grey Worm
- Areo Hotah
- Xaro Xhoan Daxos, King of Qarth
The list could go on. As you see, the show definitely casts different ethnicities…even though it is set in Europe, which was country of predominately white people during this time. Heck, the show even includes a dwarf, gay men, strong female roles, and red heads. Just when you think they have covered most their bases, BOOM. Next SJWs will be upset that there isn’t a transgender character.
Boyega says, “There are no black people on Game of Thrones. You don’t see one black person in Lord of the Rings,” he continued, “I ain’t paying money to always see one type of person on-screen. Because you see different people from different backgrounds, different cultures, every day. Even if you’re a racist, you have to live with that. We can ruffle up some feathers.”
Er, wrong. Sounds like someone is just trying to stir up some attention. Perhaps starring in Star Wars isn’t enough for him. He needs more of a spotlight. It’s just a sad attempt to bash a successful show.
