An example of what a useless Environmental Protection Agency we have today is the high bacteria count in ocean water we have at virtually all US beaches. Memorial Day, 2017, calls attention to this problem in the fact that many vacationers planned to go to the beach and with this, many beach cities and parks have released information on bacteria levels and risks in local ocean water.
The problem with bacteria levels being high enough to be health hazards in ocean water is not just a problem with Gulf of Mexico beaches, or along major metro area beaches, it is one that exists in all states, as well as rural areas and State Parks.
California is one of the most environmentally friendly places in the world, yet elected officials there have completely disregarded the issue of dirty and dangerous levels of bacteria and viruses in ocean water along their coast.
The bacteria itself comes from the level of human feces reaching the ocean from sewer systems and is particularly high after storms bringing substantial rain to certain areas, due to runoff. All water going down storm drains from precipitation takes all sewage along with it, on its way to the ocean.
While the EPA has chosen to be more of a political organization than one which protects the environment in concentrating on harmless CO2 levels in promoting the politically motivated lie of climate change. They have completely disregarded health threats such as the bacteria problem in ocean water, which is a major environmental issue.
Not only is bacteria and virus levels responsible for illness, but it also has caused deaths and dismembering diseases in many beach goers.
The time has come to reassess the whole EPA in this country and restructure the agency to actually work for what it was intended for, which is protecting the environment, not promoting political agendas.
If the EPA really were interested in protecting the environment, they would have addressed this issue decades ago. Instead of destroying the economy by restricting industry with their push to eliminate CO2 production. The agency should have had a system of filtration in place for sewer runoff.
Since actually doing something about real problems is harder than addressing fairy tales, the EPA has become completely ineffective in actually protecting us, via the environment.
Time for the President to make some major changes to the EPA agency, and transform it into one that actually works, rather than what it currently is, which is virtually nothing more than a political agency, having nothing to do with protecting the environment.
