California: America’s wacky Aunt who hasn’t mentally matured after the flower-power, hippy phase she had in freshman year at a state-run liberal arts school.
While most of America is in the midst of an important, and none-too-soon conservative uprising, our westernmost republic is still clinging to the threads of leftism, New Fascism, and overwhelming liberalism. The state, whose southern half is littered with near-communist stoners, surfers, and acid-flashback-having hippies, continues to be the big blue light at the end of the political tunnel for many impressionable young minds.
California has an enormous history of bucking the rest of the nation when it comes to legislation, particularly as it pertains to firearms. 2017 looks to be no exception either, with a massive overhaul of the already existing assault weapons ban.
“In the document, the state mandates all firearms they consider to be ‘assault weapons’ must be registered with the Department of Justice:
“‘Any person who from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2016 inclusive, lawfully possessed an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine as defined in Penal Code section 30515, including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be readily removed from the firearm with the use of a tool (commonly referred to as a bullet-button weapon) must register the firearm before January 1, 2018.’
“The Golden State is considering anything without a ‘fixed magazine’ the size of the pistol grip to be an assault weapon. The focus is primarily on those who build their own AR-15 style pistols.
“Residents are then required to go through a number of crazy steps to make sure their firearm is in compliance…”
The full list of new regulations can be scoffed at here.
California, who has made no qualms about their hopes to one day secede from the United States due to the election of Donald Trump, has never fully understood the 2nd Amendment. Where they believe that only “gun nuts” and “doomsday preppers” wish to own “assault” weapons, the reality is that firearms such as the AR-15 are necessary for the sovereignty of We The People. The 2nd Amendment is not in place to provide weapons for hunting or home defense. The 2nd Amendment exists solely in case the government attempts to ban our firearms.
Sounds familiar, Cali?
