A family in Minnesota is thanking their dog after escaping their burning house when the dog woke them up. Early in the morning on Saturday, around 1:56 am, the Red Wing Fire Department and paramedics responded to a call about a garage that was on fire at the 1900 block of Burton Street.

By the time the paramedics arrived, which was about five minutes after the firefighters, the garage was fully engulfed and had already spread into the house, raging through the second floor and the attic. However, no one was harmed due to the dog waking the family up in time!

Everybody in the house was evacuated safely, including a cat who was administered oxygen before being returned to the family.

After about two and a half hours, five fire engines and 35 firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. All fire personnel were unharmed.

The Red Wing Fire Department posted to Facebook about the incident:

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
