Liberals Try to Take Credit for New Border Wall Construction

You just can’t win with these people. First, Trump was (and still is) called a racist and a ‘xenophobe’ for campaigning on and pledging to build a massive wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico. It’s been a constant source of liberal excoriation.

In the recent stopgap funding bill that keeps the government open for another week of its passage, allows hundreds of millions of dollars designated for border security and repairing portions of the existing border wall.

Both the Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney and White House press secretary Sean Spicer have held press conferences in which they use photos of small portions of the existing border wall and the wall that’s being built now to replace damaged or worn and torn sections.

Liberals aren’t buying it that this is the Trump wall that he campaigned on. And to be honest Mulvaney and Spicer aren’t being very forthcoming about the details.

From liberals’ perspective, the White House is taking credit for something that was going to happen anyway regardless of who won the election. The walls/fences that are being built now that Mulvaney and Spicer have pointed to in pictures were authorized under George W. Bush (the Secure Fence Act of 2006) and Barack Obama. It’s not new construction. They’re repairing certain sections of it.

In effect, they’re saying that Trump’s predecessor was really to credit for the new wall sections being built. Check out this segment from CNN:

It’s funny, because I thought a wall and/or a fence is ‘racist’ and ‘xenophobic.’ Apparently, that’s only when a Republican does it (specifically Donald Trump). When it’s a Democrat, (or otherwise someone who’s not Donald Trump), it’s just ‘securing the border.’
