A fiery crash between a dump truck and a gas tanker has left one dead and other hospitalized.
The driver of the dump truck was 44-year-old Chalanta Brown, who sadly died on scene. The fuel tanker driver, 31 year-old Glen Robichaux was able to escape and was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Interstate 310 southbound has reopened at La. 3127 near Luling nearly 24 hours after a fiery crash between a fuel tanker and a dump truck.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Sterling dump truck, driven by Brown, was traveling in the right lane of I-310 south at a very slow rate of speed for unknown reasons.
A Kenworth 18-wheeler, driven by Robichaux was traveling in the right lane of I-310 and rear-ended the dump truck.
The Kenworth was carrying approximately 8,000 gallons of gasoline and exploded, becoming fully engulfed in flames. The dump truck overturned on its passenger side.
