This is getting uglier, and uglier. We’ve had to deal with dozens of fake “hate crimes” over the last few months as many of the most loony on the left have begun resorting to hurting themselves in an effort make our President (and Republicans in general) look bad. On Monday one of the ugliest stories of the fake “hate crime” variety finally came to a conclusion with the perpetrator (pretend victim) pleading guilty to fabricating a “hate crime.”
Halley Bass is a 21-year old student at the University of Michigan and back in the fall she told police that an unknown white male had walked up to her and slashed her in the face with a safety pin. Here’s what she originally told police:
Bass said she then went to the Michigan Theater down Liberty to see what movies were playing and that while she was passing by “Graffiti Alley” a short time later a man attacked her, slashing her face with what she believed was a safety pin, the report said.
Bass told police the attack was likely prompted by the Brexit pin.
“(The) person must have seen the pin and picked on me,” Bass said, according to the report. “That’s my best guess. No other reason why he would be targeting me.”
However, once the police began investigating they realized that the Bass’ story simply wasn’t adding up and the decided to question her about the attack again. After being pressed, Bass admitted that the entire story was a hoax she conjured up after having a discussion in her “women’s lit” class.
“I had been in a discussion in my women’s lit weirdly and there were a few people in my class that sort of said some things that scared me,” she said. “…It was more like I wanted a concrete reason to be scared then to just talk, I guess.”
On Monday she admitted the lie in court, but still tried to shift blame off of herself by arguing that depressions made her do it.
“I was suffering from depression at the time,” Bass told Judge Elizabeth Pollard Hines. “I made a superficial scratch on my face. It was visible and I was embarrassed about what I’d done. So I made up a story and told a friend that a stranger had done it while I was walking. I was encouraged to report it to the police. I made the mistake of doing that.”
Bass isn’t the first University of Michigan student to be caught faking a hate crime in recent days, back in December a Muslim woman who claimed that while walking near the college in Ann Arbor, Michigan a white man approached her and threatened to light her hijab on fire if she didn’t take it off of her head. The case made national news and had many liberals in an uproar, sanctimoniously condemning conservatives and Trump supporters for the existence of such hatred… but similar to Ms. Bass’ case, the investigators reviewed hours of local surveillance video footage at the location the crime supposedly took place but could not find the woman on any of the video tape. After, pursuing the investigation for some time they concluded that the incident never actually occurred.
The investigation — conducted by Ann Arbor police detectives in conjunction with officials from the University of Michigan Police Department and the FBI — included interviewing witnesses and viewing surveillance video from the location where the woman said the incident occurred.
The one major difference in the two cases is that while Ms. Bass was charged with a crime, the still unknown Muslim woman never faced criminal charges, even though the Detective on her case believed that she would. “Sending it to the prosecutor’s office is standard procedure when the investigation has revealed the incident as reported was false, and the person who reported knows it’s false,” Detective Lt. Matthew Lige told local media in December.
Expect these FAKE so-called “hate crimes” to continue because the national media and the permanently outraged LEFT eats these stories up. They crave these stories, like a fire craves fuel, and so liberal degenerates like the two in the above story will continue to lie and defame a whole group of Americans in their continuing effort to feed their hunger for outrage.
