Denver Police Sniper Saves Hostage

Denver police took some heroic action this week when they saved a woman from the clutches of criminal.

It all started Monday morning when a man in a hoodie entered a Denver convenience store in an attempt to evade police. By the time police found him in the store he had already taken hostages, and that’s when negotiations began.

For over an hour the police tried to get the suspect to let the hostages go and end the proceedings peacefully. Finally, the suspect emerged from the store, but he was using one of his hostages as a human shield in an attempt to escape. When police assured him he wasn’t going anywhere, he began backing up to try to reenter the store. That’s when police took action.

“The officers demanded that he let her go, at which time he attempted to pull her back into the store,” White said. “So out of fear for her safety, one of the officers fired a shot striking the individual.”

A Sniper’s bullet struck the man in the shoulder area, and he dropped immediately to the ground as the hostage escaped to police.

Needless to say, onlookers were shocked. Watching something as violent as a hostage situation can be upsetting, but seeing it end with a shooting makes it all the more unnerving.

Thankfully none of the innocent people in the situation were harmed, and the hostage-taker was apprehended alive.

What a scary incident.
