Wasserman-Schultz Says it was ‘Fake News’ That She and Keith Ellison Didn’t Stand For Navy SEAL’s Wife [VIDEO]

Written by Philip Hodges

It was fairly big news yesterday that during President Trump’s tribute to the fallen Navy SEAL Ryan Owens and his widow, at least two Democrats remained seated – Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Keith Ellison.

I thought it was too bad to be true. Something like that would be political suicide. Wasserman-Schultz and Keith Ellison are both seasoned politicians. They wouldn’t risk the bad optics just to ‘make a point.’

Politicians don’t do things to ‘make a point.’ They do things that benefit themselves and make themselves look good in the eyes of their constituents to ensure as long of a political life as possible.

Kellyanne Conway responded:

As it turns out, it was sort of a half-truth. They stood for the initial introduction to Carryn Owens, but not for the 2-minute standing ovation. Most of what was reported yesterday was actually regarding the 2-minute ovation. So, I would argue it was no more than a half-truth.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was on CNN discussing the issue with host Erin Burnett. Wasserman-Schultz said it was all fake news, and that that’s the ‘M.O.’ of conservatives and the White House.

CNN showed a clip of Wasserman-Schultz and Ellison standing with everyone else when Mrs. Owens was introduced by the President.

But what they didn’t show was the two remaining seated during the standing ovation, and that was the issue.

Here video again. Look closely:
