FLASHBACK, April 2012: Immigration Raids Lead to 3,168 Arrests in ONE Week…Media Silent, no Protesters

The media have been trying to scare their few viewers that President Trump is going to go through with mass deportations of illegal aliens. His rhetoric may have been a bit stronger than Obama’s, but when you strip away the fear-mongering of the media, Trump’s actions so far haven’t been much different than what Obama did.

People are protesting every deportation that takes place, as if deportation is this brand new invention that just came into existence on January 20, 2017. Prior to that, America was a fairy tale land, where everyone lived in perfect harmony with one another. Now, thanks to Trump, we’ll never live happily ever after.

But the truth is that deportations happened under Obama. The difference is of course the media’s coverage. Under Obama, it was just Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) doing their jobs. The media didn’t seem to care all that much, if they even covered the issue.

Under Trump, it’s an outrage. And the media’s fear-mongering coverage of it leads thousands of unemployed people to protest in the streets. Why don’t we remember similarly unemployed people protesting and blocking traffic back when deportations happened under Obama?

ICE raids across the country so far have netted about 683 arrests in a one-week period. No wonder everyone’s protesting. Sounds like a big number, right?

Until you learn that in April, 2012 – during Obama’s term – one national sweep led to 3,168 arrests over the period of six days, the largest roundup of illegal aliens on record. That sweep garnered little media coverage, and therefore little to no protesters.
