USA Today Writer Compares Steve Bannon to ISIS Leader [VIDEO]

Written by Philip Hodges

In a USA Today op-ed entitled ‘What Bannon Shares With ISIL Leader: Our View,’ the writers attempted to show similarities between the President’s chief political strategist and the leader of the Islamic State.

As you can imagine, their ‘evidence’ is rather scant. They pulled a few quotes from Steve Bannon over the years pertaining to Islam, and a few quotes from ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to try to show that the two hold similar world views.

They weren’t arguing that Bannon is an Islamic terrorist, but rather that he’s sort of the ‘Christian’ version of Baghdadi. “Both harbor apocalyptic visions of a clash of civilizations between Islam and the West,” the op-ed explained. From USA Today:

Bannon, the right-wing provocateur who used to run the Breitbart website, inveighed on radio in 2010 that “Islam is not a religion of peace; Islam is a religion of submission.” Baghdadi echoed those sentiments five years later: “Islam was never for a day the religion of peace; Islam is the religion of war.”

Each man spins a narrative for his followers of sprawling conflict between believers of Prophet Mohammed and followers of Jesus Christ. “There is a major war brewing, a war that’s already global,” Bannon warned an audience at the Vatican in 2014. A year later, Baghdadi said: “Oh Muslims … this war is only against you and against your religion.” Each man proselytizes for this vision of war. A decade ago, according to The Washington Post, Bannon outlined a movie proposal based on the fear that radical Muslims will overrun the U.S., turning it into the “Islamic States of America.”

This would be about as absurd and nonsensical as saying that Jesus is the ‘Christian’ version of Satan, and so therefore, the two hold similar world views and are alike. (In no way am I saying that Bannon is anything like Jesus.)

Tucker Carlson took on one of the writers David Mastio:
