IRS Investigator “Hearts” Obama

Remember that truly disgusting scandal that broke last year? The one where the IRS was targeting conservatives for persecution simply because they were conservative? I only ask because the media hasn’t really been talking about it for the last six months – even though the entire sordid affair has only become more disgusting over time. Well, the Justice Department has finally assigned an investigator to get to the bottom of what would be described by some as one of the grossest misuses of executive power in the last hundred years of American history. Knowing how disturbing the allegations, and how much evidence has already been unearthed, I’m sure you, like me, are wondering which crack-investigative genius the DOJ has brought in to get to the truth of the matter.

Get ready to be disappointed.

Apparently the person that the DOJ has chosen to conduct this investigation is a trial lawyer by the name of Barbara Kay Bosserman. She just happens to be an avid supporter of President Obama and the Democrat Party — going so far as to donate thousands of dollars to both the President and the Party in 2008 and 2012.

“The department has created a startling conflict of interest,” Mr. Issa and Mr. Jordan said in a letter sent Wednesday and reviewed by The Washington Times. “It is unbelievable that the department would choose such an individual to examine the federal government’s systematic targeting and harassment of organizations opposed to the president’s policies.”

IRSTeaFor its part, the Department of Justice says that it’s not allowed to consider an investigators political leaning when giving out assignments for cases.

“It is contrary to department policy and a prohibited personnel practice under federal law to consider the political affiliation of career employees or other non-merit factors in making personnel decisions,” said spokeswoman Dena Iverson.

Well, guess it’s nice to see the Obama administration following the rules for once… even if it is to their own benefit.

Whether or not they are “just following the rules,” this is pretty terrible optics. The only silver lining is that perhaps this will remind the media that there is still a scandal brewing within the Obama administration. The IRS targeting of conservatives is real, and it was malicious.

The FBI is still investigating criminal charges, and the deeper the House Oversight Committee digs, the more evidence of malfeasance it finds. It’s gotten to the point that the two investigations are even competing for new information and butting heads over what they should be sharing with each other over concerns of hurting their own cases!

So two active investigations, one criminal, and now a third investigation beginning and the media still believes Democrats when they say this is a “made-up” scandal? Ridiculous.

We better see some results here, and soon.
