Jonathan Gruber on Obamacare: ‘This Law Was Never Supposed to Help Everybody’ [VIDEO]

Written by Philip Hodges

At least he’s honest.

Jonathan Gruber is an economics professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the architect of Obamacare and Romneycare.

Being a prime designer of the law, Gruber has been the Affordable Care Act’s prime bulwark from critics. In an interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, Gruber admitted that Obamacare was never supposed to help everybody. But to Gruber, it wasn’t a confession. It was just a statement of fact.

For months, Gruber has been saying that Obamacare has been working exactly as it was designed. Rising premiums was something that had to happen as a result of making the health insurance industry more “fair.”

In his explanation that the law was never intended to help everybody, he acknowledged that there were a couple groups that were hurt by the law: healthy people and rich people.

He said that previously, healthy people benefited from a “corrupt system.” Now that the Affordable Care Act has made the system more “fair” – that is, insurance companies are required to insure sick people with pre-existing conditions – of course premiums are going to go up for everyone, but especially for healthy people. That’s a sacrifice that healthy people should be willing to make for the good of the system.

The other group that was hit hard by Obamacare, according to Gruber, were filthy rich people.

As for why a majority of Americans don’t like the law, Gruber said that that’s because Americans are too stupid to understand what’s good for them. They’re too gullible, and they fall for misinformation.
