What is Michelle Obama’s face doing on the US Mint’s new commemorative $100 Coin?
The US Mint has announced their new $100.00 commemorative 24-Karat gold coin featuring a new characterization of Lady Liberty as a woman of color. The coin shows a profile of a woman wearing a crown of stars dressed in a toga.
Nothing wrong with the US Mint coming out with a coin depicting a black woman. In fact, most of us would think it is historical.
However, just one problem exists with this new coin, and that is it does not just display any black woman, either from history or from someone’s imagination. The likeness is clearly that of Michelle Obama’s. Every facial feature displayed on the coin from the chin, nose, head, and eyebrows are unmistakably those of the First Lady.
It is no secret that President Obama has desired his picture on US currency as part of his legacy. It has been considered throughout his second term, along with the introduction of Harriet Tubman as the new face on the $20.00 bill.
It was virtually impossible for him to appear on any US currency, and absolutely impossible for Michelle Obama to be on anything (but perhaps a disposable McDonald’s cup). They finally succeeded in slipping one by us in getting the First Lady’s likeness put on a commemorative coin by just not mentioning who the image really is.
Thus, our Narcissist-in-Chief has succeeded in paving the way for a Presidential run by the First Lady in 2020 and is carving his mark in history by having his wife’s likeness on a commemorative coin.
