According to a report by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Ambassador Susan Rice met with a delegation of Palestinians on December 15th in Washington D.C. and introduced of the anti-Israel resolution which was passed eight days later on December 23 by the UN Security Council thanks to an Obama-direct abstention.
The Egyptian newspaper published what it claims are the transcripts of meetings between top US and Palestinian officials that, seems to corroborate Israeli accusations that the Obama administration was behind last week’s UN Security Council resolution. And hints that the Palestinians have already seen the plan Kerry is presenting on Wed. 12/25, which Israel fears is the first step to the Obama administration imposing a “peace solution” on Israel.
Another possibility being discuss is that before he leaves office, Barack Obama will “recognize” a Palestinian state. Any of these possibilities remove any need for negotiations, Obama/Kerry plan to give the Palestinians what they want, so why bother negotiating with Israel–which has been the Palestinian position since Obama took office and made the settlements a major issue.
