You see, this is one way to do it! The voice of the people spoke and voted down an Oregon bureaucrat who bullied owners of a Christian bakery on behalf of militant sodomites as he sought to be Secretary of State.
In this year’s election, the people spoke at the local level in Oregon, and chose Republican Dennis Richardson instead of Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian for Secretary of State of Oregon.
Todd Starnes reports:
So consider this – Avakian was too liberal for what is arguably one of the most liberal states in the country.
Avakian, a passionate advocate for the LGBTQIA crowd, was thrust into the national spotlight when he declared war on a Christian bakery in 2013.
Aaron and Melissa Klein, the owners of Sweet Cakes By Melissa, declined to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple’s ceremony.
The Kleins, who are devout Christians, explained that participating in a same-sex wedding would violate their deeply-held religious beliefs.
The Kleins faced Nazi-like tactics from Avakian and other representatives as they took a First Amendment stand against pretended legislation regarding discrimination. The couple were issued a gag order, fined $135,000, and still vowed to stand.
The business was forced to close.
“The goal is never to shut down a business. The goal is to rehabilitate,” Avakian told The Oregonian in 2013.
Rehabiliate? For what? Standing on the rights that are recognized by our own Constitution, mainly the free exercise of religion (the Christian one) and freedom of assembly (discrimination).
Following all of this, the couple decided to show love for their enemies and deliver cakes to pro-sodomite groups.
Avakian also attacked the Twilight Room Annex who turned away transgender patrons because he didn’t want his establishment referred to as a “gay bar,” and who could blame him? The bar was forced to shut down as well and fined $400,000!
As for the Kleins, they are appealing the fines that were imposed by Avakian’s office.
“We will never know if Mr. Avakian’s unprecedented attack on religious liberty played a role, but we are hopeful that there is a path toward justice,” attorney Hiram Sasser told Todd Starnes. “Everyone’s beliefs deserve respect and tolerance even if some disagree with those beliefs.”
“Perhaps this will serve as a point of reflection for government leaders that the people of Oregon and indeed most Americans believe in tolerance and respect and the dignity of each person to live their lives according to the dictates of their own consciences,” Sasser added.
I wonder why these people let Mr. Avakian remain in office so long before giving him the boot. At least now, they see him as the anti-American, anti-Christian bigot he is. Good riddance!
