It’s All About the Sunshine State

Written by Leonora Cravotta

As of this publishing, the election is less than a day away.

The race for the presidency remains very close. The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump nationwide by five points. On the other hand, the latest Investors Daily Poll which has a high level of past accuracy shows Trump up by one point.

Those who study electoral college maps agree that Trump must win Florida and its 29 electoral votes. The latest CBS/U Gov poll shows that Trump and Clinton are tied in the state. Consequently, in the last days of the campaign, he is spending a lot of time in the Sunshine State with a rally in Tampa on Saturday.

Mrs. Clinton also held several weekend rallies in the South Florida and Orlando areas. Florida is an early voting state. By Saturday morning, close to six million Floridians, half of Florida’s registered voters, had already voted.

Democratic voters marginally exceeded Republican voters with 2,268,663 Democrats having cast their ballot versus 2,261,383 Republicans who voted early. Given the high concentration of Floridians voting early, it is all the more critical that Trump have a strong performance in Florida on Election Day.

Consequently, he has a rally scheduled in Sarasota for Monday, November 7. Trump’s return to Florida follows a rally-packed weekend which also included an incident Saturday night at his Reno Nevada rally where the candidate had to be taken away by Secret Service agents when a protester attempted to rush the stage.

All of the recent polling data was taken before the latest Clinton email news became public. Apparently, Hillary Clinton was instructing her maid Marina Santos to print out sensitive government emails for the former secretary of state at her DC residence, including emails containing classified information. Santos, a Filipino immigrant without a security clearance, was also printing out drafts of Clinton’s speeches and confidential talking points for Clinton’s meetings with foreign heads of state.

The printed emails included exchanges between Clinton and her top aide Huma Abedin and another aide Monica Hanley which specifically included Clinton’s request that “Marina print (the documents) for me in the am.” The emails included sensitive subject headings such as “Revisions to Iran points” or “to see before your Netanyahu meeting.”

You just can’t make this stuff up. I wonder what other bombshells will drop before Tuesday.
