WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Cancels Major Announcement Because of ‘Security Concerns’

Written by Philip Hodges

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange had planned on making a major announcement from the balcony of the Ecuadorian embassy in London, but he canceled at the last minute, citing security concerns and death threats.

Assange has now postponed his announcement to Tuesday morning (3am EST) at WikiLeaks’ tenth anniversary celebration in Berlin, and he’ll be speaking via video.

Little is known about what will be the subject of Assange’s announcement. Many of Hillary’s opponents are hoping that it contains information that will either force the Democratic nominee to drop out, or to cause her support to dwindle.

In August, Assange told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that he didn’t want to “give it away” as to what incriminating information on the next data dump would include regarding Hillary Clinton. “But it’s a variety of documents, from different types of institutions that are associated with the election campaign, some quite unexpected angles, some quite interesting, some even entertaining,” he said.

More than likely, whatever information Assange has will not cause any lasting harm on Hillary’s campaign, unless it’s incontrovertible evidence that ties Hillary to something really egregious like child sex trafficking. If it’s something convoluted or questionable – like evidence that might prove that Hillary had ties to a bank that may have been affiliated with a group that could have at one time been sympathetic to a terrorist-associated group – it will quickly fizzle, and Assange will go from hero to zero in no time.

Whatever the case, Hillary and her surrogates really don’t seem to like Assange. Monday morning, the WikiLeaks founder tweeted:

It seems that Hillary’s campaign might be concerned about what Assange has on her. Assuming the “security concerns” that caused Assange to cancel his announcement were real, it does lead one to wonder who’d be behind the threats, if not someone with close ties to the Clintons.
