Confirmed: Trump’s Microphone WAS Defective at Presidential Debate

Democrats of course thought nothing of Donald Trump’s statement that his microphone was defective at the presidential debate. Another “conspiracy theory,” right?

Hillary Clinton used it as a way to attack the Republican nominee’s performance. “Anybody who complains about the microphone is not having a good night,” she told reporters after the debate.

Trump had mentioned the mic malfunction several times. All his comments were along these lines:

“And they also had, gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that? My mic was defective within the room,” he told reporters. “…I wonder, was that on purpose? Was that on purpose? But I had a mic that wasn’t working properly within the room.”

Later on, he continued:

“I had a problem with a microphone that didn’t work. I don’t know if you saw that in the room. My microphone was terrible. I wonder was it set up that way on purpose. My microphone in the room, they couldn’t hear me, you know, it was going on and off. Which isn’t exactly great. I wonder if it was set up that way, but it was terrible. When I tested, it was beautiful, like an hour before, I said what a great mic. It was going on and off and it was much lower than hers. I don’t want to believe in conspiracy theories, of course, but it was much lower than hers and it was crackling and she didn’t have that problem. That to me was a bad problem, you have a bum mic, that’s not exactly good.”
So, was there something to that? Apparently there was. The Commission on Presidential Debates sent out this brief statement on Friday:
“Regarding the first debate, there were issues regarding Donald Trump’s audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall.”
As to whether there was tampering, or whether something was done on purpose, we’ll probably never know. But at least we know that he did in fact have a defective microphone.
