Spray-painted on a wall along a Brandon-area main road in Hillsborough County, Florida was what local media outlets are referring to as a “hate message.”
That’s a little surprising, considering the “hate message” was likely put there by members of Black Lives Matter. In addition to seeing “BLM” and “Black Power,” passersby also saw a clear message inscribed on the wall to “Kill White People.” Local crews were quick to cover up the graffiti.
“It’s uncalled for, there’s a way to protest, there’s a way not to, this is just, it hurts everybody,” one passerby Cat D’Alessandro said. “I was kind of sad really, because why does it have to be like, why does it have to get to this?”
Not far from those messages, personal residences were also hit. A woman Stacy Hatfield who owns a trailer had a sign in her yard showing support for Donald Trump. It and her other sign which read “Hillary for Prison” were both vandalized with “BLM” written across them.
“Yeah I’m pissed off, very pissed, because this just ruined our paint job, and it makes our neighborhood look like trash now,” Hatfield told WFTS. “Vandalism, they got nerve to come and do that. We didn’t know we was discriminating [against] anybody. Obviously we offended somebody.”
Since there wasn’t any surveillance, it’s going to be very difficult for police to nab the vandals.
