Newt Gingrich Makes Liberal’s Brain Explode!

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich uses simple logic to make the meandering argument of a liberal fall apart.

GINGRICH: This is baloney.

REICH: What is baloney?

GINGRICH: Here’s the baloney: Every major city which is a center of poverty is run by Democrats. Every major city. Their policies have failed. They are not willing to admit it. And the fact is it’s the poor who suffer from bad —

Liberal talking head, Robert Reich, was complaining that Republicans were to blame for the great wealth disparity that can be found in our nation. Gingrich was kind and succinct in his response – “baloney.”

Reich claims that the war on poverty was a success until the Reagan years. He seems to forget that President Reagan was swept into office due in large part to the failing economy and rampant joblessness handed to him by the Carter administration. He also seems to have missed the last five years – under President Obama we’ve added more people to the food stamp roll than ever before. There are more people out of work and out of the workforce than ever before. The income disparity in America is as great today as it has ever been!

Then there’s the little nugget of irony from the folks at the Daily Caller.

One thing Reich isn’t taking responsibility for is his own contribution to inequality during his widely regretted stint in the White House. Working as the Clinton Administration’s Labor Secretary from 1993 to 1997, Reich oversaw a substantial hike in the federal minimum wage and implementation of the Family Leave Act. Despite these apparent War-On-Poverty victories, according to’s chart of after-tax income by income group, U.S. inequality during his tenure grew at the fastest rate ever seen up until that time.

The truth of the matter is that Newt is right. Republicans need to do better with the poor, but Democrat ideas are what is making Americans poor…
