White House Press Corps and Photographers in Revolt?

The Most Transparent White House EVER is under fire for not being very transparent. White House reporters and photographers are revolting against what has been described as the most secretive Presidential administration in history. The latest and most unsettling issue for reporters has been the White House’s refusal to allow outside photographers access to shoot pictures. The Obama administration has become famous for limiting access to many events and then releasing only White House authorized photos of these events. For many reporters and photographers it seems that the Obama administration is trying its hardest to control everything that comes out of the White House.

Things came to a head in a recent White House press briefing, needless to say, Jay Carney did not handle the pressure all that well…

Don’t you love when the Democrats use that old standby… “in the previous (Bush) administration…”?

Sadly for Jay, it didn’t work this time because the press corps members were there too. They know that as tough as a time they might have had with the Bush administration – that was easy compared to the Obama administration. President Bush tried to keep the press at arm’s length, but he knew that he couldn’t push them too far because they would revolt quickly against a Republican. The media has given President Obama greater latitude on this issue (five years of it in fact), but their patience has grown thin and they want changes.

Let’s see if the Obama administration gives them the transparency they want or keeps on stringing them along.
