The election is still more than 90 days away, but it seems that Donald Trump is already convinced that he’s not going to win.
“I’m afraid the election’s gonna be rigged. I have to be honest. I hear more and more that the election on November 8th. Can you believe we’re almost there?”

This has to be disquieting for both Trump’s supporters and his opponents. Here’s why:
For supporters it sounds a very pessimistic tone. It sure does sound like Mr. Trump believes his candidacy to be doomed. Consider his demeanor during the primary campaign. Even when things looked bleak, he always sounded sure of his eventual victory, but now, three months out? It sounds like Clinton has already won.
For opponents it sounds a concerning tone about how Trump supporters might respond come November. Could Donald Trump be attempting to stoke the rage of his supporters in an effort to either build some steam heading into November? Or, even more disconcerting, could he be attempting to set the stage for his loss in November and ensuring his own popularity (and the continued anger of his supporters) by taking on a kind of “martyr” status?
Liberals, of course, fear the worst.
“I’m afraid the election’s going to be rigged, I have to be honest,” Trump says, laying groundwork to dispute the results.

not exactly laying the groundwork for a peaceful November should he lose https://t.co/LsPVtHu8sF

He has been setting this up for a long time. If he loses, he's a martyr for a cause. https://t.co/OiBG5BjYVW

My own take? I bet he didn’t mean anything nefarious about it, I’d bet he was just trying to play off the recently discovered corruption at the DNC (where remember, the primary race really was RIGGED) while also stoking his faithful into a productive frenzy.
I guess we’ll find out for sure come November.
