Our “Ally” Pakistan just Gave $3 Million to the “University of Jihad”!

From the Daily Caller News Foundation:

A Pakistani provincial government has allocated the equivalent of $2,870,385 towards an Islamic school known as the “University of Jihad” that has produced some of the region’s worst terrorists.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, located along the Afghanistan-Pakistani border, will provide funds to Darul Uloom Haqqania Nowshera. The school is home to infamous terrorists such as former Taliban leaders Mullah Omar and Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, as well as the founder of the Haqqani Network, Jalaluddin Haqqani, and Asim Umar, the head of al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

“I am proudly announcing that Darul Uloom Haqqania Nowshera will get 300 million rupees to meet its annual expenditures,” announced Shah Farman, a provincial minister, to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly last week.

Habibur Rehman, minister for religious affairs, told the News International that the large sum (300 million Pakistani Rupees) is a result of half the money being held over from the previous year. Half of the amount is slated to be paid out in 2016-2017, while the remainder will be provided next year.

“Darul Uloom Haqqania is one of the oldest and largest seminaries of Pakistan and it deserves financial assistance,” said Rehman, defending the provision of funds to the News International.

The school was founded in 1947, and is known to have pro-Taliban and pro-al-Qaida sympathies. It is currently headed by Maulana Sami ul-Haq, who just so happens to be a member of the province’s ruling party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI).

The JUI is believes in enforcing strict Islamic Sharia law and is a vocal opponent to U.S. counter-terrorism efforts in Pakistan. The party has been known to have helped given rise to several terrorist organizations in Pakistan.
