Republican Radio Host Begs RNC Delegates to Do Something Shocking!

Written by Onan Coca

Oh boy. It’s not shocking to run into mainstream Republicans who don’t like Donald Trump. (Don’t believe me? Look at what happened yesterday with Lindsey Graham and Mark Kirk.). What is shocking is to find a mouthpiece who usually toes the party line, starting to drift from the GOP orthodoxy.

On his radio show this past week, Republican talking head Hugh Hewitt, who has not yet been in the #NeverTrump camp, seems to have shifted in that direction. Hewitt was talking about the train wreck of a week that the Trump campaign has endured when he surprised everyone listening by arguing that the time has come for the delegates to the Republican National Convention to change the Convention rules and dump Trump.

It’s like ignoring stage-four cancer. You’ve got to attack it and right now the Republican party is facing — the plane is heading toward the mountain…

I want to support the nominee of the party, but I think the party ought to change the nominee because we’re going to get killed by this nominee. I have never said that. I’ve waited until the primary was over. I stayed Switzerland until the end and in 72 hours dovetailed from that.

They ought to get together and let the convention decide. If Donald Trump pulls over a makeover in the next four to five weeks, great, they can keep him. It would be better if he had done so five weeks ago…

The Republican National Committee needs to step in and step up and talk to him about getting out of the race…

The Republican National Committee can do one thing: they can change the rules to make the first two ballots advisory… make the delegates own it. If you are gonna commit suicide and someone is giving you a gun, don’t blame the gun, don’t blame the guy or the gal who gave you the gun, blame yourself.

Wow. So, the question is… what do you think? Is it time for the RNC and the GOP to dump Trump and find an alternative? Or has Trump earned the RNC’s support?
