In Alaska many female High School track and field athletes are crying foul over what just went down at their All-State competition. High School senior Nattaphon Wangyot had a wonderful competition and walked away with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash and third-place in the 200-meter. The only problem is that Wangyot did all of this in the “GIRLS” track and field competition … and he’s a boy.
That’s right, Wangyot is a boy (a senior no less), and we’re all supposed to be cheering on his “accomplishment” of defeating female opponents as young as 14-years old? It makes no sense whatsoever.
In fact, the only people making any sense are the young girls the boy was competing against.
One of his competitors, Emma Daniels, said this – “I’m glad that this person is comfortable with who they are and they’re able to be happy in who they are, but I don’t think it’s competitively completely 100-percent fair.”
Another athlete, Peyton Young, had similar thoughts on the matter – “I don’t know what’s politically correct to say, but in my opinion your gender is what you’re born with.” Ms. Young concluded with perhaps the most astute observation on the matter when she pointed out the obvious truth that all of the adults seemed to be missing. “It’s the DNA. Genetically, a guy has more muscle mass than a girl, and if he’s racing against a girl, he may have an advantage.”
The girls seem to be the only people in the district making much sense, but they’ve found an ally with Jim Minnery’s organization, Alaska Family Actions. Minnery states the obvious in objecting to a boy competing against the girls in track and field:
“We are here today as a voice from the community to ensure that female athletes are not denied the playing opportunities and scholarships otherwise available to them and to make the playing field even again. Allowing students to play on teams of the opposite sex disproportionately impacts female students, who will lose spots on a track, soccer and volleyball teams to male students who identify as female.”
This is the problem. While liberals whine and moan about “women’s rights,” it’s they that are doing the most damage to women in America today. Decades after the passage of Title IX and the government’s efforts to “level the playing field” between girls and boys in the academic world, it is the politically correct efforts of the government now making everything so much worse.
The simple truth is that (as Ms. Young pointed out), genetically, males and females are physiologically much different – which is why more males are competing in girls sports than boys are competing in girls athletics. It’s also why female soldiers are not able to pass the same physical requirements that male soldiers are, and why you won’t be seeing female athletes on professional sports teams, but you might soon be seeing men playing in the WNBA.
This is the foolishness that politically correct liberals have wrought.
