We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!
It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.
So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading, Monday, February 15, 2016.
Justice Antonin Scalia passed away over the weekend, and the folks at Reason.com explained that he was nothing like the conservative ogre caricature that liberals have portrayed him to be. PJ Media remembers three different occasions that Justice Scalia took a valiant stand for religious freedom. The NRA worries that Scalia’s death could imperil the 2nd Amendment.
While Democrats want to nominate and appoint a new Supreme Court justice immediately – Republicans say it’s just not going to happen.
Which states are the freest? Surprise, they’re all Republican dominated states!
Senator [score]Rand Paul[/score] (R-KY) and other libertarian-leaning Republicans are telling libertarians to run (not walk) away from socialist Senator “Bernie” [score]Bernard Sanders[/score] (I-VT).
Jeb Bush and Senator [score]Marco Rubio[/score] (R-FL) did their level best to knock Donald Trump down a few pegs in the last debate in South Carolina.
Senator [score]Ted Cruz[/score] (R-TX) worries that just one Supreme Court Justice could swing the court and destroy every gain made by the pro-life movement. Which is why Senator Cruz plans to filibuster any attempt to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice before the next President is inaugurated.
While Governor John Kasich (R-OH) may be a moderate who has bad-mouthed pro-lifers in the past, the truth is that he’s done a good job of curtailing abortion in Ohio during his tenure as Governor.
“I’m for getting rid of all this Planned Parenthood funding and to be able to shift it to other kinds of family planning institutions. But if you shut the government down, the president is not going to give on this. Shut the government down and then open it up without achieving anything — there may be some people that think that’s great. I do not and neither do the vast majority, I believe, of American voters and Americans themselves…”
As LifeNews previously reported, Kasich has a strong pro-life record. In fact, under his leadership, Ohio abortions dropped to an all time low and when he took office, the state had 18 abortion facilities and now they have 11.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump wants his abortion extremist sister to be a Supreme Court Justice.
