Common Core Confusion – Your Daily Dose of Crazy

YouTube personality Melissa Strzala recently went to a Common Core math tutoring session at her local public library, and she decided that she’d make her own tutoring video to help anyone who was struggling with understanding Common Cores’ method of doing subtraction.

In less than two minutes Strzala explains how to subtract 13 from 43 and the methodology is indeed dizzying.

Strzala has several other Common Core math explanation videos, but this one is probably the one that most exposes the insanity that is Common Core math. While Common Core advocates usually defend the system as one designed to encourage “critical thinking”, this method of subtraction seems to have been designed without the use of any critical thinking skills.
