He elaborated, “everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage and focus on money and the media.”

Trump came to New York’s defense, citing our courageous response to the Sept. 11 attacks. Trump said, “We rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York….”

Of course all the New York opportunist politicos like De Blasio, jumped in, “I’m disgusted at the insult that Ted Cruz threw at this city and its people.”

Perhaps De Blasio doesn’t know that the truth is not an insult. A large portion of the United States recognizes that New York values are simpleminded, perverse and untraditional. We take utopian views rather than pragmatic solutions to failed public policies.

Cruz said that millions of New Yorkers have been let down by liberal politicians, “coddling law-breakers while alienating cops and screwing over schoolkids.” Maybe this fits for De Blasio but not Trump.

Trump wanted Cruz to apologize for accusing him of “New York values.” Trump defended New Yorkers during 9/11. They deserved his defense. But their general progressive and liberal values are shovels that dig at the moral foundation of our city and mock civilization.

I am a New Yorker who is assaulted by my neighbors’ liberal orthodoxy. I can’t come out of my conservative closet and admit my disgust with New York values.  I love the city but I hate the naïve Democrat views and their lack of tolerance for any views that are contrary to theirs.

I hate Cuomo’s telling all conservatives to leave his city. I can’t stand De Blasio’s left wing swagger and fake love of the poor while he tumbles our city into homelessness and crime.

Cruz tells it like it is. He doesn’t shoot us in the back with leaden liberal lips. He is long term constructive rather than hedonistically, masturbatory short term liberal.
