I think this is evidence that liberals have intellectually imploded. We’ve (conservatives) long argued that their cultural, philosophical and political beliefs would eventually lead to their own destruction, but I don’t think any of us thought it would begin happening so soon. The liberal infatuation with “coexisting” and embracing “the other” while also lambasting conservative views of sexuality, propriety and justice, seems to finally be biting them in the rear.
Over the New Year’s holiday weekend there were several instances of widespread Muslim assaults on women in Germany that had the entire world buzzing. Most honest, logically thinking people were outraged by the attacks and by the German police’s seeming inability to punish anyone for the crimes. But liberals, ever the defenders of Islam, jumped in to put a stop to any of the “racist” discussion about Islamic culture impinging on the rights of women in Europe.
No, instead of defending women (and in a thoroughly anti-feminist fashion), the liberals sided with Muslim culture arguing that these HUNDREDS (well over a thousand Muslim men in Cologne alone) of men in various German cities were simply outliers. (Ugh.) As if that irrational defense of Islam weren’t enough, now these liberals have even stooped to blaming these poor, innocent women for being sexually assaulted. Here’s what Cologne’s liberal (and female) mayor had to say about the assaults.
Asked by a journalist how women could protect themselves, Henriette Reker said: “There’s always the possibility of keeping a certain distance of more than an arm’s length – that is to say to make sure yourself you don’t look to be too close to people who are not known to you, and to whom you don’t have a trusting relationship”.
Reker also advised women to “stick together in groups, don’t get split up, even if you’re in a party mood”.
The Internet outrage from more reasonable minds came in fast and furious:
Christopher Lauer, a politician, tweeted: “Man: “I had intended to mug this woman and molest her, but shit! She’s an arm’s length away from me!”
Alexander Nabert, a journalist, wrote: “This thing about an arm’s length – is it a rule of thumb?”
Another Twitter user, Marie von den Benken, wrote: “Frau Reker, the thing about the one arm’s length sounds more like one brain cell.”
It wasn’t just Cologne, either. Similar attacks were also reported in Stuttgart and Hamburg. Altogether, more than 100 cases of assault have been reported, and the common theme across all three cities? Large groups of Muslim men were responsible for the attacks.
But hey, those victims should have just kept the criminals at arms-length and then everything would have been okay.
