I don’t think Chris Matthews meant to confuse Hillary Clinton, but he did it nonetheless. During an MSNBC interview that the Clinton campaign probably assumed would be a walk in the park, Matthews threw Clinton an unintentional curveball when he asked her to explain the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist.
I’m not one. I’m a progressive Democrat who likes to get things done and who believes that we are better off in this country when we’re trying to solve problems together. Getting people to work together. There will always be strong feelings and I respect that, from, you know, the far right, the far left, libertarians, whoever it might be, but we need to get people working together. We’ve got to get the economy fixed, we’ve got to get all of our problems, you know, really tackled and that’s what I want to do.
Ah, there it is.
Another Democrat who has no idea what the difference is between a socialist and a democrat. That doesn’t worry anyone else? Really?
Shouldn’t these candidates, who are running for President, be able to enunciate the difference between two supposedly very different political philosophies? Supposedly there is a big difference between socialism and progressive Democrat policies, so it should be easy enough to explain where the two groups differ. I mean, I assume this should be the case…
If someone were to ask me the difference between conservative Republican philosophy and socialism, or progressivism, or libertarianism, or any other political philosophy that I’ve ever heard about… I could generally explain the difference. And you know what? I think Clinton could too.
What I think happened here is that Hillary got caught and understood that if she responded honestly… it would hurt her chances at winning her next election. Hillary’s problem is that today’s progressives are not that different from socialists in word, deed or action. Hillary knows that it’s just a bit too soon for mainstream Democrats to be openly colluding and cavorting with socialists, so she has to play their relationship cool.
The truth is that it’s all a big show. Hillary Clinton is an actress playing a part, and she got caught without her clown nose on MSNBC, giving all of America the opportunity to see the truth about her and the Democrat Party.
