Democrats Demagogue on Guns – but FACTS Prove Gun Violence in Long Decline

In the wake of the Muslim Terrorist attack on innocent professionals in San Bernardino, California the Washington Post released a story that dug deep into the facts on gun violence in America. The story was a breath of fresh air — a cool drink on a long desert trek – in large part because we’ve spent the last few weeks dealing with Democrat misinformation about gun violence in America.

Democrats Adam Schiff and Tim Kaine have both made ridiculous and foolish statements in the aftermath of the Colorado and California shootings…

Well, I think this is a big issue that there’s too ready access of people who are seriously mentally ill to firearms. But nothing we have done has worked because essentially we have done nothing. The background checks are not universal, so even if people who are mentally ill would be barred if they buy it off the back of a truck or they buy it at a gun show, it’s not going to stop them from getting a weapon. If they can still have access to very powerful weapons with extended ammunition clips, they’re still going to be able to kill a lot of people.

We have got a political climate where the overwhelming majority of American citizens believe there are reasonable steps we can take to make our lives safer … but you’ve got a political class, frankly, that will not listen to the voters, because they’ve been buffaloed by gun manufacturers and the NRA,” Kaine says. “So they quickly say ‘Nothing can be done; nothing can be done.’ Every new tragedy: ‘Nothing can be done.’”

At this point, Kaine says, such voices are part of the problem: “I believe in good and evil in the world. And people who do these shootings are evil. But people who say nothing can be done, that’s a voice of evil too. That’s been a voice throughout history: ‘Oh, nothing can be done, we can’t do anything about it.’ That’s just wrong. Being a bystander when bad things are going is not a morally acceptable position.”

Kaine referred sadly to a BBC report on the San Bernardino shooting that began, “Just another day in the United States of America — another day of gunfire, panic and fear.”

Contrary to the liberal narrative, the truth about gun violence is far different than the Democrat Party would like to pretend.

In general, though, fewer Americans are dying as a result of gun violence — a shift that began about two decades ago.

In 1993, there were seven homicides by firearm for every 100,000 Americans, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. By 2013, that figure had fallen by nearly half, to 3.6 — a total of 11,208 firearm homicides. The number of victims of crimes involving guns that did not result in death (such as robberies) declined even more precipitously, from 725 per 100,000 people in 1993 to 175 in 2013.

Older data suggests that gun violence might have been even more widespread previously…

This decline in gun violence is part of an overall decline in violent crime. According to the FBI’s data, the national rate of violent crime has decreased 49 percent since its apex in 1991. Even as a certain type of mass shooting is apparently becoming more frequent, America has become a much less violent place.

This decline in gun violence shouldn’t surprise us as conservative media has been pointing us to these truths for a few years now. As Breitbart points out

Breitbart News previously pointed to this decline and explained it correlated with a massive increase in privately owned firearms over the same period of time. For example,Congressional Research Service showed that the number of privately owned firearms increased from 192 million in 1994 to 310 million in 2009. And record background checks under Obama make it easy to see how tens of millions more privately owned guns have found their way into Americans’ hands since 2009.

So gun ownership increased for 20 years, but “gun homicides” decreased–except in gun free zones.

Increases in gun ownership correlated with drastic reductions in firearm-related homicides, but creating zones where law-abiding citizens are denied the ability to be armed for self-defense have allowed high-profile attackers to find easy targets.

Silly Democrat gun grabbing fascists… your ridiculous notions on gun control don’t work, and the data supports our (conservative) theories. Sorry that the facts are on our side… AGAIN.
