Anthony Weiner Says His Problems Are the Internet’s Fault

Is there any politician in America who is as deluded and sleazy as Anthony Weiner (D-NY)? Ok, there are probably a few who could give Weiner a run for his money – Bob Filner (D-CA), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Eliot Spitzer (D-NY), Marion Barry (D-Washington, D.C.), and I’m sure there are a few others. But Weiner has to take the cake when it comes to being completely and utterly deluded about the cause for his woes. I think most of these men might deny that their problems were their own fault, but none of them would blame… the internet… would they?

Anthony Weiner did.

That’s right, Anthony Weiner actually said that, “Maybe if the Internet didn’t exist? Like, if I was running in 1955? I’d probably get elected mayor.” Don’t laugh.

I’m sure that what the sex scandal ridden Weiner means is that if the internet weren’t around people would not be hearing so much about his various affairs. I’m sure that he means that internet tabloids and bloggers are the most to blame in his sudden fall from grace, to the gutter of American politics. I’m sure that he believes what he did is not that big of a deal, and it would have just blown over if there weren’t so many dang nosey people skulking about on the interwebs.

If not for the internet, he could have remained physically and emotionally faithful to his supportive wife, Huma Abedin. If not for the internet, he could not have posted pictures of his junk on his computer to send out to his, ahem, “fans” on the World Wide Web. If not for that darned internet, I’m sure that Anthony Weiner would never have even thought about interacting in an overtly sexual manner with scores of women who are not his wife.

It’s just like the gun debate, folks. In the mind of Weiner – people don’t expose themselves and have affairs… computers do.

Anthony Weiner needs to grow up. Anthony Weiner needs to stop blaming outside actors and realize that every bit of his disastrously public collapse is his own fault.

Stop being a weiner, Anthony. Man up and take responsibility for yourself.
