In what can only be described as a delicious piece of Democrat back-stabbery, Hillary Clinton took the opportunity to throw her old pal Crazy Uncle Joe Biden under the bus. Former Secretary of State Clinton was in Atlanta to give a speech to the National Association of Convenience Stores, but the speech was off-limits to the Clinton hungry press. In lieu of being able to report directly from inside the convention, the local media sought out any witnesses who had the chance to be inside during her speech.
They found a gold mine when they dug up state Representative Tom Taylor (R-Dunwoody), who told them why he believes she is gearing up for a 2016 Presidential bid.
“I know she’s running for president now, because toward the end, she was asked about the Osama bin Laden raid. She took 25 minutes to answer,” Taylor said. “Without turning the knife too deeply, she put it to [Vice President Joe] Biden.”
Time and time again, Taylor said, Clinton mentioned the vice president’s opposition to the raid, while characterizing herself and Leon Panetta, then director of the Central Intelligence Agency, as the action’s most fierce advocates.
The bin Laden query was the last of a Q-and-A session with the audience. “She took the rest of the time and went over, answering that question. She was ready to speak on that,” Taylor said.
Her speech to the Convenience Store Convention focused mainly on the idea that small business is the engine of our national economy and that the government must do more to help small businesses thrive. Obviously, she knew her audience. Being in Georgia during a government shutdown, she even took the time to speak about her shutdown experiences as a First Lady, reminding the crowd that when her husband was president, we experienced a couple of similar events with local politician Newt Gingrich (R-GA) at the helm of the House. The basic point being that even in our tough times back in the 90s, life was better than it is now, without a Clinton in office.
The speech is meaningless to me. It’s the kind of thing every politician (Republican or Democrat) says about small business. Realistically, however, only the conservative Republicans are really looking out for small business. Republicans want less taxes and regulations on small businesses to allow them to operate as freely and cheaply as possible so they can make as much profit as possible. Why? Because that’s when our economy works best. When small businesses are making money hand over fist.
What really interested me about her little talk was her focus on old Joe as a naysayer on the bin Laden raid. Hillary is a smart (if immoral) cookie, and she knows that right now, her biggest adversary for the Democrat nomination for President in 2016 is Crazy Uncle Joe. You have to give it to Mrs. Clinton here, she is ruthless… she is trying (and succeeding) to bury Vice President Biden before he even has a chance to start fundraising.
With an opponent as ruthless as Hillary Clinton, the Republican Party better wake up and realize what they’re going to be up against in 2016. If they play things as safely as they did in 2012, the Republicans won’t have a chance.
