This is why I keep arguing that Donald Trump voters should really be Ted Cruz voters.
When it comes to being “outside” the Washington establishment, you don’t get more outside then Ted Cruz. Sure, Trump may seem like an outsider, but he has been playing the insider game for many, many years. Trump admitted as much during the first debate when he admitted to paying off politicians because ‘that’s the way the game is played.’ Well, Ted Cruz doesn’t play that game, and the evidence is all over Washington, D.C.
Everyone in D.C. hates Cruz. Democrat and Republican, lobbyist and crony investor, they are all hoping and praying that Ted Cruz doesn’t win the GOP nomination… which is exactly why he should win!
On Wednesday evening at a fundraising event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Speaker of the House John Boehner once again confirmed all of this for us when he had the gall to call Senator Cruz a “jackass”! Boehner was making a joke about how he likes having Cruz on the campaign trail because it’s keeping him out of Washington and from telling Boehner how he should be doing his job. Needless to say, Boehner’s remarks did not make the gathered attendees very happy…
Steamboat Springs businessman, Ed MacArthur said, “I don’t think it’s terribly speaker-like, and I think it kind of goes against everything that Reagan ever said about disparaging Republicans. It’s becoming very disturbing to me that we can’t have good, polite conversation. It all has to be at the throat.”
Another local added that when she heard Boehner’s comment she “about fell on the floor. To build coalitions to work together in Washington, D.C., you don’t start it out by calling your colleague a ‘jackass.’”
Boehner and his Washington cronies have always stood against Ted Cruz and the other conservatives in Congress. They’d rather see Hillary Clinton win the White House than a real conservative like Cruz. If we work together we can see their worst nightmares come true. We can get Ted Cruz elected; we can push to end the corruption and cronyism that has infected our government. But we have to pull together, and we have to give our support to a true conservative candidate.
Exit Quote from Erick Erickson, who wrote a great piece about Boehner’s attack on Cruz.
“… It will be damn funny to see all these guys who’ve been attacking Cruz for six years suddenly put “Cruz for President” bumper stickers on their cars.”
