Senate Republicans seem to have gotten their act together just in time to introduce a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood on Wednesday.
The measure will likely be met with cheers by conservatives around the country – but we shouldn’t get our hopes up yet – remember this is the same GOP that has caved on every other important issue in recent days.
A working group of Republican senators has reached a deal on the details of a bill to stop funding Planned Parenthood that will get a vote before the August recess.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell began the procedural gears to bring that bill directly to the floor just before the Senate adjourned Wednesday.
“The horrendous videos of senior executives from Planned Parenthood discussing in callous tones and shocking detail their role in a national scandal requires a congressional response. Our constituents demand it; the unborn deserve it,” the Kentucky Republican said in a statement. “This legislation would ensure taxpayer dollars for women’s health are actually spent on women’s health — not a scandal-plagued political lobbying giant.”
Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., earlier in the day hinted that Democrats would not support any measure to defund Planned Parenthood, saying the plan was an “attack on women’s health.”
“We’re dealing with the health of American women, and they’re dealing with some right wing crazy deal,” Reid said.
“Right wing crazy deal.”
Yet another reason to despise Harry Reid? Yes, yes it is.
How anyone can watch these videos and consider what Planned Parenthood is doing and then say that defunding such grotesque and disgusting actions is “crazy” is either suffering in the throes of dementia or an evil goblin. (I’m really not sure which one Reid is…)
Harry Reid is the Heinrich Himmler of the American abortion holocaust, no? I mean can you imagine some gumshoe reporter for the Berlin Times asking Himmler if maybe the opposition was right and the Nazis should stop sending Jews to extermination camps? Himmler’s response would probably have been something very similar to Reid’s – “We’re dealing with the health of Germany, and they’re dealing with some right wing crazy deal,” Himmler might have responded.
Meanwhile, in New Hampshire, someone forgot to give Hillary Clinton the Democrat Party talking points because she said something that no one was expecting.
“I have seen pictures from them and obviously find them disturbing. Planned Parenthood is answering questions and will continue to answer questions. I think there are two points to make. One, Planned Parenthood for more than a century has done a lot of really good work for women: cancer screenings, family planning, all kinds of health services. And this raises not questions about Planned Parenthood so much as it raises questions about the whole process, that is, not just involving Planned Parenthood, but many institutions in our country. And if there’s going to be any kind of congressional inquiry, it should look at everything and not just one (organization).”
Um. Did Hillary Clinton just say that we need to investigate EVERY abortion provider in America? It sure sounded like it. I think she was probably attempting to deflect attention away from Planned Parenthood, but instead she said something that I totally agree with… we need to have much more rigorous oversight and investigation into every clinic and hospital that provides abortions. Not just Planned Parenthood.
Here’s something I never thought I’d say – I totally agree with Hillary Clinton. Let’s do exactly what she says. (Disclaimer: this only applies to her above quote.)
Ok, now I need to go take a nap because that was hard to do.
All kidding aside, folks, if you’ve ever considered getting politically active and agitating for freedom and morality, this is the perfect time to jump in with both feet. Call your representatives (local, state and national) demand that they get involved to save the lives of these innocent children. Call your local party activists and ask how you can help get the word out and pray that God would show mercy and let us end the Holocaust of abortion in America.
